I had a 1 amp 2 sub install then i got another amp and now i get those dreaded popping sounds. With one amp i got nice hard base and 148.8db. Box is tuned to 37hz. A hardcore spl competitor reckons my subs are going past emax and poppng out of there "groove", the pop is when they return and hit the "lip" of the groove.
Specs: 2x12" pioneer 121spl subs, rated at 750W rms and 2x1500W rms amps with 200amp anl fuses on each one plus 2xbrand new 700amp(cca) dry cells. JVC dvd headunit, Bass Maximiser and parametric equaliser. Box is 4 cubes with no center baffle and is made of 16 millimeter mdf.
HELP...What can i do to reduce the current xmax...subs will obviously have a reduced lifspan

turn down the gain on the amp or make sure that any type of bass boost is off or change the box size a bit

It's all in the box.

hmmmmmmmmmm [Confused]

let's look closer......

1 x 1500 rms / 2 = 750rms per speaker ( old set up )

1 x 1500 rms / 1 = new setup......
1 x 1500 rms / 1 = new setup.......

now a lil closer look

pioneer 121spl subs, rated at 750W rms
its reaching its xmax from u pushing it to hard brotha....
u could try the things slab said and gain a few db...
id not waste my time & get a new set of subs that can handle 3000 watts then build a box to them...

--------------------
2 wrong's dont make it right but it sure make's it even!!!
