I have a system in a boat with around 1000 watts, I run the system majority of the time just off the batteries alone. The boat is not running. I have two large tractor size batteries that I run the system and the boat off of. My problem is that the system will clip out when there is a big surge from a low bass tune,(a big pull of energy)the batteries can not supply fast enough energy to the system. Will stiffing caps work, will they provide the quick burst of energy the system demands?

Yes they well, but a topic that has been talked about a few times is using a Yellow Top battery within a foot of the amp "think its a foot" The Yellow Top has such low resitance that it acts as a stiffing cap with mucho larger reservers. A Yellow Top battery is around $200 I think and a 1 Farad stiffining cap is around 170-180. Anyway yes the stiffining cap well work but I would put a Yellow Top in JMO.
