Well, I just got back from a local shop that was displaying one of these in a kicker ported box, and all i have to say is DAMN !!
It was loud as hell, and it only had a JL 500/1 running to it. Well, now i'm 99.99% sure i'm gonna get one of them, I was wondering if it can handle a lanzar 1200d running to it for daily driving(at 1 ohm). Oh, and i'm planning on building the box that is pictured in the manual from Kicker's site(4.5 cu ft. +port) Anyone use this design? If so, does it sound good?

Current setup:
Sub: 15HC
Sub amp: Lanzar 1200D
Box: 3.33 ft^3 ported tuned to 33 hz

Yea, the S15L7 can handle that power easy. stick it in a 4.5 vented enclosure with a sub-sonic filter and they'll pound just fine.

Cool...but wth is a subsonic filter? Also, just out of curiousity, does anyone have an estimate as to what it will hit? As stated above it'll be running off a lanzar 1200d, and in a 4.5 ft^3 box with a 3" x 16.25" and 14.75" long. I'm kinda hoping it'll hit 145

A subsonic filter is a high pass filter that filters out the frequencies at the set point and under. It keeps your sub from committing suicide from trying to play a note below its frequency. These subs are great and 4.5 cubes ported should get you around 145

Are these filters specific to the company that makes the amp? Like a chip that goes to the amp? Or are they something that hooks into the wires?

Bassboy,
I believe they will take that power easily, I have a D2 on each of mine at 1 ohm and they go pretty hard. Subsonic filters are normally in the amps or Equalisers. The beauty of the square shape is the extra cone area you get for nothing when competing in the lanes against our round-woofered friends, good luck.

my friend has a 15" L7 with the 6cu.ft box in the manual, and it is loud, and i was VERY suprised at how nice it sounded. he had a crossfire 1000D on it, at 1 ohm. good setup, i like it alot, and would recommend it to people. also, the sub acts like it can take more power. no distorion whatsoever, great sub.

I have an L7 15 with a jbl bp1200.1 in the 4.5 cu ft box. The only problem is where the port is on the diagram. I think it shows it on the side of the box and i just moved mine to the same side as the sub. I think that the 1200D has a subsonic filter on it but if not then dont worry about it right away. I dont have one and havent had any problems yet. What kind of car is this going in?

It's going into a Tauras( ) That'd be tight if it had a built in filter .

But also, to break the sub in, should I run it at like 4 ohms for a couple weeks then move to one ohm?(getting the dual 2 ohm woofer)

I had 2 L715's in the 4.5 cu ft box on the site running off a single bahn a2300hcx (2400w @ 1ohm) and it was loud as hell. Almost as loud as my 4 aw1200x's and 2 memphis 1000d's....

you can run it at 1 ohm the whole time, just don't beat the hell out of it right out of the box....play music on it at low to moderate volumes for a couple of days....

some believe in breaking in, some don't....i do

Yah, well I jst thought I should only run the 400 wrms(1200d at 4 ohms) for a litle while, such as a few days then move up to the full 1200wrms since Kicker states in its manual to break them in, but maybe i'll just run it at 1200w from the start and just progressively turn it up louder
