The stroker came in with a new desighn that smashed everthing in its path and yet to day it is still rated as one of the heavy wates. but even with age comes with experience. when will CV make an all new version that can live on the grand daddy. a new machine to take its place.

The Stroker design was something that was taken off the shelf 9where it sat for quite awhile...since the early 1970's), and basically got cosmetically "cleaned up" for the streets. It has done damn well, considering it's age.
It seems that since it's reintroduction, it has raised the bar (in relation to other manufacturers)for loudspeaker (and enclosure) development. Just think: pre-Stroker: almost all SPL competitors ran 1 crapload of speakers in sealed enclosures. Then came the Granddaddy, and changed the entire SPL field! Those of you who are old-timers will know what I am talking about.
I can tell you this: if Cerwin-Vega had a speaker like this on the shelf for over 20 years, how long until they 'release' a heard of elephants on the competition, causing them to scurry back to the drawing board?!?!!!

considering that the design/materials used is quite "aged," i would think that mixing the new engineering techniques with their already unfair patented dual spider and centerpin advantage... stroker 2 would knock the pants off of anything.

Alex,I agree 100%.The Stroker still hold there own and continue to be a top 5 SPL speaker. If they do come out with a Stroker 2 it will be hard pressed to match the consistency and longevity of the original.
p.s. the A1200's still work great! They are becoming a little aged and "small" in comparison to the monsters nowadays, but never a more reliable amp.

hey megajam, if you ever are thinking about getting rid of one or two...I am not competing anymore, but I would love to run 1 on the doors, and I think I can find somewhere else to put the others

Yah,run the 1200's for a mid/tweet amp Times are a changin'!LOL!I bought 2 new subs last year and was going to run 1/coil as you did in the impulse, but van blew a motor So they have been sittin' in the basement the past year+.Wanna try them out and see what kind of number they will post, but may have to purchase larger amps to compete nationally. If I do I'll look you up and see if you want a few.
(The Impulse should be in a DBDRAG museum somewhere! )
