i recently began looking into sound sytems. Im really thinking about the Rockford Fosgate stuff. im not planning on competeing, but i do want a very good, loud, hard hitting system, but if its good enough(system), i might give it a shot(competing) Since im not competing(maybe), obviously i don't want it too loud (defening). So what do yall think about 2 punch dvc 15's with the 800a2, or 3 punch dvc 10's(in 1 box) with the 800a2. or should i be looking at the 1100a2. also for the components, i like the fanatic Q 6.5, but i prob will get the x6.5 because of the cost, or are the q's really that much better & worth the money. Finally, my last question; do i need another amp for the components, use the same 1 with the subs, or hook em' up to the head unit. Oh yeah, any ideas on the head unit? i was thinking bout the RF's. Is there more equipment that i might need, or u recomend? Thank you very much in advance!!

here is what i think.....go with the three tens...(or even 2 12') those DVC's are awesoem...but give each speaker it's own air space...like put dividers in the box.....personally i would throw a POWER 1100a2 at em...they would love that....for components i am not sure because i am die hard MB QUART but as far as i see these guys dont like MB to well...so see what they all say...I also use SONY head units but again this is the firts time i have ever seen the nam SONY on this forum so i might get kicked off of here....LOL...but anyway one good reason to go with the POWER 1100a2 is that you have freedom to move up to more speakers or what not and you didn't waste money on something too small...not that the 800 is small but the 1100 is big and the rule of thumb for amps is "BIGGER IS BETTER"....well have fun..and watch me get laughed at on this thread cuz i know nothing...

juiceman.... why do you say to put dividers in the box?? not saying i think otherwise, im just trying to figure out which would be best does it have any effect on sound or not.. cause i like SQ SPL is not a neccesity, being that i listen to punk rock and hard rock like metalica and manson and stuff like that... Thanx

well i always divide my boxes for probably no reason....i used to believe that the subs would work against each other...but in most car stereos that is not the case...especially when most people are running mono....i just do it because i feel its better probably....i have always heard better stereos with dividers...(maybe the undivided ones were bad boxes)....JMO...but that free cruthcfield box is not the way to go....do you agree?...it may and it may not make any difference...but i read somewhere on here that you should never put more than two or maybe three in one airspsace....hopefully someone on here can give you a little more detail....as for punk rock ported boxes are the best for that in my experience...(but in my experience i port everthing!)....

Since it seems like you are trying to save some cash I would stick with the 800a2, it will get 2 or 3 subs plenty loud. I would save the money and definately buy an amp for the separates up front, 25 clean watts will go a long ways on a component set. As far a components, listen to as many as possible with your own music and pick the ones you like the best. There are some good quality budget components out there. As far as decks go, I like Eclipse haven't had a problem with one of their CD players in about 6 years. Look at as many as possible and pick what you like based on features and looks. I'll leave sub recommendations to others, I've had JL's in sealed boxes for the last six years.
Subs will sound just as good in a shared airspace as in seperate chambers, providing that the box is properly braced and that the subs are the same.
I have 2 seperate boxes that each have 4 10's in them and they sound real nice(when my car runs).
The problem you probably heard with these boxes that shared airspace was that the box was vibrating. This causes a loss of sound. Maybe someone can explain it better than me...but I'm just telling you. My boxes are braced all over. They do not vibrate one bit..so I know I'm getting as much from them ,in my boxes, as possible.

You said you were thinking about competeing? Well..IMO..it would be better to go with the 15's seeing that they already have the cone area advantage and potential to be louder than the 3 10's. Plus...if you're going to compete...3 10's will put you in a higher class than the 2 15's.
Plus...the 10's won't be maxed out with 3 of them. The 15's wouldn't either but they'd be a lot closer.
Just my 2 cents.
