Basically a ABC box would be comparable to a 7th order bandpass the best.. They are similar, as a generalization, you would gain SQ with the ABC and gain efficiency with the BP.. They are both dual tuned boxes, just one has the woofer on the outside..

OK LETS GET SOMETHING STRAIGHT WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT A BANDPASS OR AN APERIODIC BOX HERE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE DOUBLE CHAMBER REFLEX the following is an excerpt from the great sound stereo speaker manual which i have pesonally had since 1993 but ithink was first printed around 1986 so we aren't doing anything new here
the double chamber reflex is designed to load the woofer over a wider band of frequencies than a single chamber box.the first compartment behind the woofer, usually has twice the cubic volume of the second compartment. if equal lenght ports are used for the two chamambers and to connect them, the woofer sees two resonance frequencies an octave apart. at the lower frequency, the woofer behaves as if it were installed in a single chamber box with a cubic volume equal to the total volume of the two compartments .the double frequency loading makes the double chamber box somewhat more tolerant of driver variations than an ordinary ported box
and that is the bottom lime because DAVID B WEEMS said so

So from what I can gather here is this. An ABC box really is just a special case ported box. Now what if instead of the 2-1 ratio I went with a 2.5-1 ratio. i.e. main chamber is 2.5 ft^3 and the smaller is one. If the main was tuned to 28hz or so would this put the secondary at 2.5 * 28 tuning. Would it work with a box tuned to 28hz and the other tuned to 70? Thoughts? Would it sound good also.

It should.. Im going to try different ratios to tweak the tuning for somoother overall sound on my next one.

Ohh I forgot to ask also...Does the woofer actually "see" the entire volume of the box. I was kind of thinking that it would only see both chambers if the freq was below the 2nd chambers tuning. If the freq was at the point of the second maybe the woofer would only think it is in the first chamber? I dont know. This is the first I am trying to learn about this type of box so fill me in guys and damn we are lucky that forums like this exist to swap info on.

damn...i got anouther question now. How do I calculate the ports. Example if I have a 3 ft^3 box w/ a 2 ft and a 1ft chamber and I want a tuning of 30 hz on the main chamber, do I calc the port assuming a volume of 2 ft^3 or 3 ft^3. thanx again...i will stop now.
