doh......just my luck. Yesterday I built the box with 3" ports 12" long and all the volumes(each chamber were perfect). Crap I guess I will be building a different one now though. Anyone need a 3ft^3 ABC box?....lol

i had 3" ports in my box and then today i cut for the 4" ports and it made a big difference. i think that its time for a wall with 4 awc12's and 4 abc boxes i am shooting for a 55 at 40 hz.

The only one Ive heard which wasn't tuned/sized quite right sounded pretty good with a cheap woofer, so I would say these can definately sound good based on a good design..

Just wanted to give props to the guy's at Olson's in saginaw! I saw my very first ABC box there today! I was looking at it, and I couldn't figure out what the heck type of box it was..then it hit me A-B-C I was just mighty impressed.

Ron - I've ran them in a couple of SQ cars. I would put their SQ slightly below that of a standard vented box mostly because of the higher tuning peak - it can get a little 'lively' at times. A very fun box though! Maybe not the ultimate SPL or SQ box but a damn fine daily pounder!

Ok say That I am making one of these for a Shocker 12. They like 3 Cubic feet Ported. So would I make one Chamber 2 Cubic foot and the other 1 cubic foot? Or do I make 3 cubic feet and the other 1.5 cubic feet? Do I tune to total Cubic feet?
Some pics of building one would be helpful!

I think the question that hasnt been answered yet is how will this box perform for a couple of 15's with 1000 watts+ on each one? If I want to use a common chamber 12 cuft box for a pair of subs, will a common chamber be louder or have the same output as an abc box that is 12 cuft? (At a given frequency of course, say around 60 hz) If I need to use a certain amount of port space, (ex. 200sq inches) what should I do about tuning? I would love to be able to still hit those 30hz tones with ease. But I need that 60 hz peak or thereabouts.

4fifteens - my RF rep had 4 DVC 12s (similar to a pair of 15s) in a 12cuft ABC (9+3) with 2000watts total (pair of 250.1s) and that thing was Baaaaaaaaaaaaaadddd..... The drop on the bottom would pop a filling...
I recommend common chambers usually just for the ease of venting.

I've always had my local shop building my boxes, so I have no experience whatsoever. I wanted to build an abc for an orion hcca 15d. People tell me that they work well with 5 cu ft.. so I was figuring 3.5 and 1.5 for the chambers... but I have no idea on port length and how to tune it, or even the formula. If it was too hard for me to do.. i was going to try and figure out the port lengths and all, and have the shop do it.
