got my ABC built for my reg. nissan hardbody, it is alot louder and lower than my .5 cuft sealed box was, and still is tight w/ the upper bass, I get some port nosie on certain songs at high volume, but they are very close to my head so go figure.....I can live w/ it.... it is 1.6 cuft and has a kicker CVR8 dual 4 ohm voice coil, driven by a kenwood kac-819 @ 2 ohms w/ 230wrms, ss filter set at 25Hz.......got pics too!!!!..... go ahead and rip on me cause of my wires, give it to me good, cause I need to fix that sh*t......LOL http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=2833312&uid=1484985&members=1

I read through the first 10 pages and the last three...
So what I gather is this:
1) Model up your sub in WinISD for a PORTED box. Preferably as large a box as is practically possible, either for the sub's specs or for your vehicle's limitations. 2) Take that model, and divide it into two chambers, 2/3 on one, and 1/3 on the other. 3) Put THREE equal sized ports, one in the big chamber to outside, one on the small chamber to outside, and one in-between the two chambers. Be ANAL about accounting for port and subwoofer displacement. 4) You're done.
Question - How do I determine port size? This I'm a little iffy on. Do I use the WinISD port size suggested for the original undivided box? For example - for my CVR12 (iso loaded), I get 3CF, 30 HZ gives 4x4 sq port, 21 inches in length. Do I then use THREE 4x4 inch square, 21 inch long ports, or do I recalculate based on the smaller chamber sizes?

Thanks all! -keith
The latter. Be SUPERANAL about how much the box is off by. I think on a 3 cubic foot box, mine is off by 12 cubic inches. The only problem is I put the stupid 8 in the wrong damn chamber...
<shakes head laughing at my own stupidity>

i remember reading some of this post a long time ago, and well back then i didnt even know about tuning a regular ported box, so this was all too much to understand. but now after having built a few boxes, i think i might give the ABC a try. it is still a good box to build? i havent seen much talk of it recently. think it would be worth giving it a try with a brahma 10?

Yes it is! I've build one for a Vega 124... It was hell loud, and had major lows, and "thight" upper bass...

what you need to do is find out how big of a box the sub can safley handle ported. then model the box as a ported box with two ports tuned around 32hz.
this will tell you how long each port needs to be. when you build the box you use these two ports and another on exactly the same on the inside connecting your two chambers.
just to hopefully make it a little easier for ya, here's what i did and it helped BIG time.
find out what size box you need, in this case lets say 9^ft3. then that meas you would need one chamber to be 6 and the other to be 3. decide how tall and deep you want the box. then when you doing you calculations you can do it for two seperate boxes eventhough it's really one.
so you'd take 29.875 x 14.25 x ? untill it's as close as you can get to 6 after port and sub displacement. then with the number you get, divide it by two and write it down. this is what you want the smaller chamber to be after displacements.
basiclly your taking the depth and height that you chose for the whole box and doing the width seperatly (be sure to factor the divider in)
i hope all this rambleing helps in some way, i just know that this was the easiest way that i found.
