OK, when you say take the 3.0 and 1.5 cu ft, would i enter that has being a 3.0 ft^3 tuned XX htz or as a 4.5 ft^3 box tuned to XX hz?????
Also, i want to make one for a shocker 15, they need an even 5.0 ft^3 do i make one chamber like 3.5 ft (or whatever it is) and the other one 1/2 of that and they would total 5.0 ft^3?????

-For tuning you would model it as a 4.5cuft box with 2 identical ports.

-Yes.

dukk box? huh? It's a dual-chamber reflex. You can design your own if you want. I wrote up a qbasic program a while ago. I'll find the link and post it. The program is about 50k but you HAVE to use caps lock or else it won't work.

EMU - I sort of 'introduced' the design to this board so it has become my baby in a way.
In Canada many of us are fortunate to have had exposure to this design due to Korbon Trading, specifically Garry Springgay (now of Rockford Corp) The same is not true for the rest of the planet
I find it interesting that you call it a Dual Chamber Reflex cuz this is really Pez's favorite name for it. I prefer it's original name - Aperiodic Bi-Chamber, or ABC

Thanks for posting the formating of the enclosuresize and the vents...
I have the design in an old speakerbook, but they don't give general rules, just the sizes for a specific driver that hasn't been for sale in the last 30 years... (10W 8" Philips driver...)
Do you have the Karlson cabinet rules for 10, 12 and 15" drivers as well ? They are also in the book, but the dimensions they printed are all screwed up... (8"hole for a 12" driver ??? Don't think so)
Last interesting design : closed box, vented with a sliding board along the back of the box. Nevermind how exactly, but you could easily motorize the length of your port... Or is this exactly how they do this at SPL runs ? (I thought they often just stuffed one port instead of actually fondling with the size...)

R-P - 8-10 years ago there was a Blazer running around in the IASCA circuit that had 30+ speakers running off a single PPI ProMos amp. Anyway - it had 8 JL 10s in a huge box in the back with an adjuustable vent - just as you describe.
Anyone wanna try to remember the guys name?? He won finals...

Dukk, to tell you the truth, I've never built a box for this design. I stumbled across the idea in a book. I saw the formulas and wrote up a program. Maybe someday I'll try it out and see if it works well. It does seem like a sweet box though.

I'm sure you could by making the port in the 2nd chamber longer, but I bet it would sound like ass because they would have different peaks for the same tuning and different group delay and sound charachteristics. I'm sure Dukk will check on his baby here and and have a better answer..

I'm interested to know why this would be done? The point of an ABC is to have a pair of spaced out tuning points to increase response over the entire range of the box.
I think if one attempted what you propose, it owuld be no better than a standard ported box...
