I'm looking at the possibilities of building a " 5th order isobaric 3 chamber box " with 4 Crunch DS-10's. It will be mounted in a sedan wich brings me to the problem. Can I mount the port outside the box to cover the distance between the hoodrack and the box, without a problem or will I get noise problems, different chambervolumes or other tuning frequencies. The box has been calculated at 2* 14 Ltr rear chamber and 27 Ltr mid chamber with a 20cm long 16cm diam. port in the mid chamber. If I put the port outside the box I should substract the volume of the port from the volume of the mid chamber, am I correct. Please advice,

When you build a ported or bandpass box you can not figure the air space inside the port as air space in the box. SO if you want to put the port on the outside it is fine, just make sure to reduce the air space accordingly.
A word of caution!!!
Please consult with the factory before building bandpass enclosures. They can be very helpful. Also remember you have about a 5% margin of error with a bandpass. It has got to be PERFECT to sound right.
