Currently I have a rf punch 250 and a 12" dvc wired into 2ohm mono. It pounds but I dont like how hot my amp gets. I was thinking of buying a seccond one and running the amp 2ohm sterio. That will probably give a littel better SQ i'm assuming because of the sterio. 2 dvc can handel 800W rms and 1600W peek so with only a 250a2 they will be severly under powered, but 1 12 sounded pretty damn loud in 2ohm sterio so 2 will surely be better. And also this will leave room for a much bigger amp in the future. Does this sound like a good setup?

Yeah, sounds like a great setup. I had 2 twelve inch DVCs running off an MTX 2300x in my camaro, and it was the hardest hitting, best sounding system I've ever had. I wish I could just have those things back! *sniff* Make sure you don't try to crank the subs above what they'll do when they're running on such little power, you'll end up clipping the amp and hurting the subs. Then, when you save up and buy a 800a2 or 1100a2, those puppies will really pound! Hope this helps.

I agree that getting another sub is a good idea. If your getting another dvc sub you should bridge the amp on both of them. You will get loads more power out of the amp. Each sub has two 4 ohm coils. Wire each coil on the sub in series. Do this on the other sub, and you've got two 8 ohm subs. Wire the two 8 ohms subs in parellel and you've got a 4 ohm load, bridged to 2 ohms. That's the same load you had on the one sub. (4+4)//(4+4) = 4 ohms bridged = 2 ohms per channel. My friend had two orion xtr's wired two ohm stereo, we changed to this and gained 3db. As for sq, bass is largely unidirectional which means it is hard to tell where the bass is coming from. Having mono sound coming from your subs won't hurt your sq as long as you have a solid front soundstage.

One more thing, when you upgrade to another amp, get a Punch power amp. These amps are 1 ohm stable so you can rewire your subs for a 2 ohm load bridged to 1 ohm per channel. Now that will really power those subs.
