Most boxes I've seen have had circular port tubes. now I see boxes with rectangular vent-like ports that are long and thin( like mabye 12in long and 2 in wide and I have no idea how deep in the box they go). whats the difference? is their an advantage with the either one?

round port and slot ports are the same thing basicly. meaning they do the same thing. People may use slot ports in boxes where a round port would go to deep "port maybe 12 in long and the box on 10 in deep ect..." So they would use a slot port to they can go alone the wall of the box as far as the want. The only real advantage I could think of is a round port is easy to install imo. cut it and stick it in. Slot ports have to be cut glue screwed measured blah blah blah : )

also with rectangle ports you can getmore cubic inches compared to a round port, ie:
2 4" ports (25.12 cubic inches)side by side dimensions is about 4"x9" , a rectangle port 4"x9" (36 cubic inches) has more port area ..
