I have a 92 mustang 5.0 GT and am looking for some mean 8s that I can position better in my hatch than my 15s. I'm just looking for some companies to check out. I'd be looking to do atleast four or so subs depends on the power.

The 1508 from DD is a pretty mean driver as well.

As mentioned above we have the SA-8 coming at the end of February - I am very happy with the testing done so far. I was able to get 150 @ the dash with a pair of them.

DD 1508's are impressive litle drivers. We did 147 db @ 36 Hz (sealed at the dash) with 4 x 1508 and one DD M3, in a Audi A4 Avant with stock electrical. And this was done in 2-3 days of work, no further testing yet. But numbers don't tell you how a speaker sounds on music. [Smile] This setup was just...more than you aspect from some 8's.

Maybe someday we will have the SA-8's to compare. So far, my 2 cents are on DD's 1508.

I couldn't find any 8inch subs on sundowns site. Maybe its very new. So far I haven't seen too many mean 8s. Seems like the meanest is the w7. Guess because its one of the only 8s thats built like its larger superwoofer siblings. Other 8s look like they belong in a door or with a tweeter. If I don't find any I'll just move up to tens and that opens the door for alot of loud lil subs

The 8" motor IS actually different -- but the 10,12, and 15 are all the same.

We have hit one with as much as a 2500-watt burp so far.

Depending on how much power you will be running, if you aren't running crazy amounts of power, I would recommend the DD1508's or Kicker 8" L7's. I had very good luck with the Kicker's in the past, and I am currently having really good luck with the DD's.

If you want to run crazy amounts of power, I think that Sundown woofer looks promising, or maybe DD has a beefier 8" sub.

Good luck with it.

Im thinking that Jacob is rateing the SA8 at 400rms but he rates so low because no matter what he says people will put twice that to it

I don't have a problem with powering them. I got 2.4K watts to power them if they was 400 rms id run 6 of em and call it a wrap! That should be loud. A few yrs back at a MO show I saw a jeep grand cherokee with 4 kicker l7 8s and he was doing mid 140s. Another dude had 1 dd8 in a bandpass doing 143. Those two showed me the spl of some 8s.

The Kicker L7 8 is pretty mean too -- friend of mine had one in his car a while back [Smile]

8W7 sounds great -- I got the impression the OP wants a driver more capable of SPL output, though. Also with a goal of four subs I would imagine he wouldn't want to spend so much on each.
