Not sure if I have the room or not but im trying to get as loud as I can without going all out. Currently I have two MA XL 15s in a 8.0^3ft box with 90" of port at 35hz. Loudest song is lil wyte homicidal. I was wanting to try out a 6th order bandpass as I was told that would most likely be the loudest. I don't have much power as all my stuff was given to me. So Im using a early 90s lanzar 1800d. I have about 10-12cubes to work with if i full wall my truck. So im trying to figure out how I calculate the volume for each chamber and the porting as I cannot find any information on these dinosaur subs. any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance

here is some pics of a 6th order band pass I hope that it helps? I will tell you that the one with three subs did not work as weel as it did with two? this is for a no wall setup but you will get the idea. good luck http://audioforum.termpro.com/topic/8/27531.html

WOW..... so what would you recommend I do. I can swap out my subs for more efficient ones and keep my enclosure. i only have 12cubes to work with. maybe one 15 in a 6th order

My 6th order series tuned is pretty loud. Or I think it is...it moves a lot of air. One thing I found is, or at least I think, that the front chamber/loading wall lowered the rear chambers tuning frequency or I'm just getting a lot of cancellation in the 30 hz region. My 20 hz stuff is rather intense! My rear chamber is 10 cubes tuned to 30 hz and the front chamber is ~23 cubes. I think you should try out a 4th order because they are easier to get loud. 6th orders are A LOT of work.

Ok, I will give 4th order a try. so what about each chambers volume, and port. Also how do I build the enclosure so that I still have access to the subs if/when stuff goes wrong?

Make the front chamber as big as possible, especially in a fourth order, that way it will be very efficient. If you make the front chamber big enough to crawl in, replacing subs shouldn't be a problem

To make it easier on yourself, since 6th orders can be difficult, make a really large "shell" and build inner chambers for your subs. Test and tune from there.

Well I decided to try a 4th order out I just have no idea how to calculate the chamber sizes and port sizing for my subs because they are so old I can't find parameters for it.

Well, with that much power, I would make the sealed chamber a little larger but I've seen some 18's in BP's with as little as 2.5 cubes. I would try 3 cubes. You'll get a little extra low end, too. Like I said earlier, make the front chamber as big as you can and go from there. It's difficult to see it on paper but once you start building, it'll come together better.

thats my only problem. being in the military doesnt allow me much time for testing/tuning. I kinda just gotta build something and stick with it for a few months till i get more time to work on it. I was really leaning towards taking these 2 15s and selling them, rebuilding my box all the way to the roof and about 3" shallower and taking the 4 kicker comp 15s in my closet and trying them out. i dont think i have enough power to really push them but they are pretty efficient. I use them alot in home theater setups but never a car

ok so I decided to just go with a normal wall for this setup until I can do a blow through. So im going to take the 4 kicker comp 15s and attempt to get the most out of it.so im going to try and get 12cubes out of the box after sub and port displacement. so will a single 12" round port be enough?

for 4-15"s i would suggest a bit more port, but it would work

so should I go sealed or rebuild my box and add more power. Im not to fond of the port and subs firing up. I kind of want to have a sub behind each headrest and the port in between the two seats about head hieght
