Hi, i have some questions about building a box.

This box is for DB dragging only i already having a enclosure for music(ported) and thats 3.35 cu ft.

Most of the people i spoke tells me this is to big(better for music but nog the best for db drag)

This box is tuned to 50Hz

the car i am playing with is a renault clio and the subs are playing upwards like this now:

 -

i am powering these subs with 3 KW RMS.

The parameters of the sub:

Electrical Q Value -Qes: 0.29
Mechanical Q Value -Qms: 4.3
Total Speaker Q Value -Qts: 0.27
Free Air Resonance -Fs: 30.7 Hz
Equivalent Compliance -Vas: 21.8 liters
One-Way, Linear Excursion -Xmax: 22 mm
Efficiency -SPL 1W/1m: 85.2 dB SPL
Effective Piston Area -Sd: 310 cm^2
DC Resistance -Re: 1.9 ohm
Nominal Impedance -Znom: Dual 2/4 ohm
Thermal Power Handling -Pe: 1000 W
Force Factor -Bl: 21

There recommendations per sub are

10"
Sealed: Not Recommended
ported: Compact 1.0@35Hz
Optimal 1.25@34Hz

Thanks for the replys!

do around 1-1.2cf net with a single 6" aeroport firing up between the woofers. this will also give you room for a big battery and big amp in ur cargo.

50hz tunning is terible for music.

were is ur box ported i cant see it..

i already have room for second battery and my amp

see:

 -

and indeed a slot port between the subs

better to see on this pic:

 -

what do i have to do... 6 inch aero is clear but how big... 1~1,2 cu ft is per sub i think?

so 2,5cu ft total is good.

my score now is 145,3 with the new termlab on de windshield.(doors closed windows closed)

I'm pretty sure he means around 1.2 total for both subs, not 1.2 per sub. I would also agree with a small box like that. You will be louder and it will sound like crap on music, but will have much more spl than a 2+ cube box.

isnt that really small [Roll Eyes]

i think the reason that small is to get the pressure out of the box instead of keep the pressure in the box?

what kind of wood can i use just mdf or there is some better sort wood?

It's not small at all for a spl box. I would use birch ply if it's available to you. It's much more rigid and lighter than mdf. You can use mdf, there is nothing wrong with it. The only real problem with birch is that it's really expensive, about twice the cost of a sheet of mdf.

i ment 1.2cf per sub but this is NET cf. subtract the displacement of the port and sub.

couldnt see ur port in the 1st pix ,lol. you did a nice job on the rounding it over.

the smaller box is going to have a much higher peak vrs a large box with a smooth roll off.

start ur tunning @40hz then keep going higher til you find ur peak.
