Hi, I'm new to the board and you guys have a sick site. Heres my situation: I have a colorado crew cab with 4 Protech 15" subs and 2 Clarion amps which do 1550watts @ 2 ohm each so 3100watts total rms. Right now the box is pointed backwards (toward the bed) and each woofer has 2 cubic ft each, its gets pretty loud but doesn't play very low. I would guess 48hertz is its peak and the woofers can't handle all the power so the amp gains are pretty much on zero.
What i'm looking towards is 2 15's (a diiferent speaker of course) in a ported box with about 4 cubic ft. per woofer. I'm looking for sugestions for a inexpesive 15" that gets loud and can handle about 1000-1500 watts in a 4 cubic foot box or smaller.
If any of you guys used to compete, you may remember me about 10years ago with the red volvo with 8 15's in the northeast region in USAC
Thanks for your help Eric

American Bass HD series woofers will do nicely. They are rated at 1500 watts rms and can easily be reconed. Try a box with the subs up on passengers side, port up drivers side. If possible, build the box for 4 6" precision ports. Make a plug or cover for 2 ports. Use 4 ports for SPL, 2 for daily(lower tuning). Conatactbob@americanbassusa.com for more info on the woofers.

Thanks for the reply, I was wondering if it would be smart to point the box backwards toward the bed of the truck or if you think pointing it up gives more output? I'm just curious because trunk cars seem to work that way (I can easily flip the box around to test this but wanted to hear your thoughts on this).
I like the looks of the woofer you recomended and think its perfect for what i'm looking for.
One other question, do you think i'll be happy with going from 4 subs to 2 subs that can handle all to power that they are give in a ported box vs. 4 subs in a smaller box that can really only take 500-700 watts max (my goal is loud deep bass not so much high spl hi frequency bass which is whatt I have now) Thanks again

I've always been a fan of more cone area and more inexpensive subs... it really comes down to a proper box. I would do 4 15s if you have the space and follow tekk45s build instructions. If you don't plan on competing just port and tune low for daily use.
