Im curently building a 4th order bandpass wall in my cadilac catera. I used it as a trunk car 139.9 bassracer all last year, time to upgrade!
I curently have a shell build, a 5 sided wall with no baffle. The airspace comes out to a little over 20 cubes. I already ordered 4 15" sundown nightshades.
This is my first bandpass build and could really use some help. First off is it worth using a box cacluator, when ever i try to use them they all say different things and never work right. If theres any good ones what are they?
I have been told by a few people to have around a 3:1 ratio of ported to sealed, btw this will be a bassracer/ music demo setup.
After dispclament I was thinking of doing 1.2 cubes sealed/ 15 and 3.45 ported. Thats about a 2.8: ratio, how does this sound?
Next question is about port area and tunning. I have heard you want a lot of port area for a badnpass, but how much? Double what you would do for a ported wall? I was thinking around 300 sq" for the 4 15"s
Next what should I do about tunning and port lenght? How do i determine port length once I decide on tunning?
Thanks in advanced for any help or comments!

I think the gurus on here are going to say that it's too small for a 4th order. Pretty much all the BP's that are built have have no port depth, just a large loading wall, because of the very big front chamber. You could keep the port area and just shrink it down or you would have to add a little bit of depth since you're front chamber isn't that big and stop whenever it sounds/feels best to you. Good luck.

Thanks for the help, I was afraid it was a little on the small side. Woofers im usuing work well in small ported boxes i was told by the manufacture so I was hoping it will still work in a smaller BP.
I was thinking about 325 sq" of port for 4 15"s? Is that about right?

Kory, you might just be better off doing 2 15's in that size bandpass. Then you could use the other 2 in your escort for a mean no wall setup. But if I remember correctly you have 2 AB Hd 15's in there don't you?

Well after doing some more measuring, I am only able to fit 3 15"s. Thats a good thing since I didnt have enough air for 4. So 3 it is. I will use the 4th sub that i ordered just as a spare. Or as zack said, i might buy a 5th and do two in the wagon. The HD's I have in there now are from the lincol at finals zack, 6k each on purbs so there pretty beat!
