Topic: DD Composite Cones...
Carbon fiber is more expensive. I have seen the cones break at 155db, in a problematic backpressure enclosure. -------------------- Johnathan Demuth- President T3 Audio Technologies L.L.C. And from my understanding when I asked DD why they don't make carbon fiber cones is because they said it's more expensive then the "kevlar" i used to run the carbon fiber cones they made...they were the ****! --------------------

I loved DD subs but I'll never run the kevlar/composite/whatever cones again because of the length of time it takes to recone them --------------------

Hmm and I thought the composite cones were supposed to increase "SQ"...I guess I thought wrong. I love learning new stuff. Also I heard that the all carbon fiber cones would shatter and the Kevlar would bend but heard the new composite they have is better than both. I think TVE was bending the kevlar but the new composites they have had no problems??? -------------------- DD 9515F Series (4) DD M3's (4) Kinetik 2400's (7) powerbastards.com 240 Amp Alt 2003 F150 Crew Cab

The SS/Ext subs must hold 30kW easily with kevlar cone. Shocker use kevlar + CF and we dont see cones breaking/bending. At HALs volvo, 6x 15 did over 600 burps at 20-25kW before being replaced for new ones before last 3X in Brazil Spyder also makes good subs, if you see the blue SS1-2 147 you will see 2x 15 with paper cone taking 26kW each (2x SD8000 at 15V) to do 166 --------------------Got 180s? I think the cones only break when there is a problem in the box?? -------------------- DD 9515F Series (4) DD M3's (4) Kinetik 2400's (7) powerbastards.com 240 Amp Alt 2003 F150 Crew Cab

I have a sample of that sitting right here. Mass is the problem, the aluminum-core material I've seen is very heavy. -------------------- ****************************** ******************************
