Well they were pretty much a tc9 motor. Plenty of those around.

Mike redesined the motor a few years back and started getting from china. With a flat back plate and tripple coil vents.

But as far as the original mouse I haven't seen one in a while. Outside of mine.

when mike was making the xtreme sub which was called the mouse,he made them for super and xtreme class, then in 2001 the street class got popular so he started making what he called street xtremes with a special gap on some of them, then the super came out after that,

odds of finding any of the shocker by atomic thunder version is very rare these days! When we dropped atomic thunder from the name we had a couple thousand extra dustcaps made and were sending them out for free to cover over the old ones...I'm sure some never got updated, but of those not sure how many would still be ticking after all these years, lol! (I may know where a couple of those motors are resting if you are looking for those, used condition at this point of course)

As for the motor, it was never an off the shelf tc9 but it was strikingly similar! We had a slightly taller top plate, smaller hole in the pole piece and smaller top plate id than the standard tc9 making ours unique to only us! The xtreme motor was never contracted out of china. The regular xtreme motor was always and only made for us by TC catch being that it was NOT a standard part and that was why we always had to wait long periods when we ran out ahead of schedule! Also, I might note that TC didn't actually make the drivers, they merely supplied the motors, another reason they were able to stand out from the rest of the pack!

Yes iggy, I can still remember you testing out the 12"s in your car, as I recall that lead to some good increases over the brand x drivers you had been running [Smile] (note, no name mentioned as to decrease tension)

The shocker xtreme officially went out of production in 2004 so that also adds to the rarity of said driver being found! Big changes came that year, alot of lines were dropped to cut out the fat, db drag team was scrapped and we returned to the grass roots of subwoofers! The only big woofer that made the cut beyoond 2004 is the shocker sig...beyond that, the shocker III has remained in service...however, it has recently been phased out to make room for new and better designs...shocker IV may be shocking the world very soon!

*side note, the original xtreme was dubbed "the mouse" after my big argument with ken koga (in a drunken stupor at world finals he actually threatened to "kick my ass" while on the boat ride, lol) of cerwin vega...guess he should have just kept his mouth shut, heh his "elephant woofer" was gonna step all over us he claimed!

well, it would take some serious digging to find all the pics of all the different models and versions and to be honest I'm not sure I can recite them all without goofing it up off the top of my head...but I can give some of the info, maybe others can contribute as well...

Atomic Thunder series (made for me by Dr Crankenstein, I quickly found out that they were having them made by a third party and just making money on me, lol) They were available in 10" and 12" only single 4 ohm drivers released in 1994!

Next series was aftershock, can't recall the exact time they were released but I'll take a stab and say around the beginning of 1996...They were made in 10 and 12" only and were single 4 ohm

Next up was shocker I's by atomic thunder...(they were my first attempt at an spl type driver) They had dual 1.8 (everyone said 1.8 ohm dcr was just plain stupid) ohm dcr 3" voice coils and single stacked 120 ounce magnets! This was the woofer that really really pissed off Ken Koga! He claimed it was a knock off of the stroker but the only thing it had in common was that it had a front spider on it... no adjustable Q, totally different cone and surround, different magnet, was truely nothing like it but he was in my face the whole weekend at world finals, was insane!

Next was the shocker II's, the "bang for the buck" sub that it seemed half of all competitors dropped in their cars almost overnight when they were released! They were extremely low impedance at dual 1.4 ohm dcr...OMG people hated on those subs saying how my flatwire low impedance coils simply didn't have enough turns in the gap to be effective...I had battles daily with audio buffs cause everyone was so sure that 3:1 flattened wire coils with such low impedance could never lend to spl as it drove the calculated bl into the dirt...I did find a link that looks like a recreation of the website that I had up at the time

http://audioenthusiast.tripod.com/Shocker12.htm

That page looks VERY MUCH like my website looked in the late 1990's...but no it isn't hosted by me, lol...There were 3 revisions on the shocker II, they were the shocker IIa, shockerIIb and shocker IIc...revisions included larger surrounds, lower impedance coils, larger stiffer spiders etc etc...This driver used our proprietary back plate design that everyone said was a joke...but, with a single 56 ounce magnet, this driver was getting louder than MUCH more expensive drivers AND holding up BETTER!

Next up was the xtreme series...double stacked 80 ounce magnets major spl driver! This woofer took us out of the 4rth -8th places and into the winners circle...it took a couple championships on its first year out as well being used in deathmatch (the subs weren't even fatigued after deathmatch and were used to set a new world record at spring break the following year without a single driver being replaced)

shortly after that the upgraded super xtreme was released along with the bang for the buck mini xtreme series...

Building on that the first shock signature series subs were released in 2001 IIRC! They had the tripple stacked 150 ounce magnets for a total of 450 ounces of strontium as well as a 1.5" tall top plate and a 3" winding width on the voice coil...OH, did I mention they were originally released as QUAD .7 ohm voice coils??? NOBODY was doing .7 ohms back then and holy cow did the quad coil get us both wanted and unwated attention! Everyone was scrambling to make their own version of a quad and many companies were making statements that quad coil was a hoax and simply didn't give the competitor any advantage at all...and .7 ohms was just plain stupid! <<<oh yeah, everyone was hating on us for the quad coil>>>

The sig was redesigned in 2002 to be more efficient and has went through so many soft part tweeks I can't even begin to spell them all out...

The shocker III was released in 2003 IIRC and originally had a double stacked 160 ounce magnet! That gave a total of 3" tall magnet and it had only a .5" tall top plate coupled with a 3.5" voice coil winding width...the idea wasn't so much spl on that driver, it was more intended to be able to move 1.5" each way and STILL have the gap 100% filled with voice coil!

The final revision on the sig was made in 2004 where the gap was cut to only fit dual flat wire voice coils, the vent was cut in diameter as well as a couple of other secret internal changes that I'll not discuss the identity of or why they were implemented. However, the sig has remained unchanged from 2004 to current!

The shocker neo was released in 2004 and although it is and was our loudest driver to date, it went out of production by mid 2005 as it was just far to expensive to make driving profit margins so low it wasn't worth producing!

At the end of 2004, the mini xtreme, xtreme, super xtreme and shocker III were all discontinued and the new shocker III was released...The new shocker III(more known as the shocker 3) has a single stacked 95 ounce magnet and dual 2 ohm dcr...it is used primarily for daily driving applications as that has become the main focus of shocker audio over the past 5 years! The revised shocker III has recently been terminated and awaiting the plans of the new shocker IV to take its place! It will also be a daily driver type woofer and won't likely be seen in the db drag lanes as it really isn't designed for that!

The truth is, my love for car audio has always been based on my personal love for LOUD music and INSANELY OVERPOWERING BASS not burps and farts...Competition to me is about who is the LOUDEST on the streets and can play it that way all day! I so long for a format to reflect that aspect...after all, isn't that what brought us all here in the first place?

man I gotta get back to not coming to the forum...else I'm gonna be writing novels again like I used to!

I owned a bunch of those woofers. It was a differant world back then though. Many more great competitors and much less power per woofer. Even so similar designs like the American bass VFL are still around and doing well. I think I drove past sherwood on my way to finals last year it brought back some good memories

I remember they were amazing subs.

But I also remember the names of the lines were confusing and difficult for consumers to figure what was what.

The Sigs were my favorites.

I have a OLD A$$ shocker that I have never been able to figure out.

Was removed from use due to burned tinsel leads that also burned though the spiders. The Dust cap was more like felt then paper as well. I rember the dust cap said shocker...I think that was all it said. The writing was red or blue....I have forgoten it's been a while sice I saw that dust cap.

This is a 3 inch coil.

Flat wound wire.

DVC ohm load is unknow due to burned off tinsel leads.

Has(had)gold(brass ?) spring termainls with rather long posts.

Tripple stacked magnets, look to be 1maybe 1 1/4 tall bands(not thick)

Top plate MIGHT be a 1/2 inch bottom plate is more like 1/4 inch thick. This would be when looking at sub from the side.

Vented pole, with dust cap removed looks like a large funel. The rest of the back plate is tapered from the pole vent to the bands.

All in all the motor isnt all that large. I would guess maybe 6-7 inchs across the motor. Looks like a beefy daily or a weak SPL sub.

Cast 12 spoke basket, looks like the ones still being used today.

There is a wood ring(looks like 3/4 MDF but is hard as hell) bewteen the basket and the motor. I dont know if added at some point for what ever reason or if it was made like this. Is that enough info to get a identy of the sub ?

As far as I can tell this sub has never been taking apart and if it was the person was a PRO.

I'd just post pics but my camra is broke.
