Ya, that is a monumental number to hit in a crx. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't gunning for it too. It is for sure a goal of mine before I stop spending so much damn time doing this, lol. [Razz]

But anyone who has managed to get their rex really loud knows that there is more than meets the eye. There is alot of work that you have to put into the car itself to get even close to the numbers he is hitting.

Just as an example, if you took this box, and the exact same subs, amps, batts, wire. Went out and grabbed a bone stock crx off the street, that has had no work done to it at all in an spl way. Dropped this gear in, found your note and burped it, you would probably see a high 55. Which is a great score, but it's not a 58+.

Just to show how much the car has to play in getting the score, just having a crx does not get you loud by itself, just like anything else you have to put the time in and work at it.

dont take it wrong mang but i think we all know that, i was just saying it was nice showing his install. [Cool]

Excellent thread! It's not often these days you see someone showing pics and explaining (even briefly) a record holding system such as this! This is what SPL is about IMO

I know in cooks van we gained almost 2db just wet sanding and buffing the baffle and inside the enclosure

maybe not enough?

I know William busted his ass in Cooks van sanding that thing.

He started at 120 and went up to like 500+ wet sanded then buffed it with a buffing wheel and gained a TON.

Every time I've tried to sand and smooth out the inside of a street box it did absolutely nothing. But in a wall application it can be a huge gain for sure.

VERY nice to see someone post pictures [Smile] I really wish more people would do the same

btw sick scores terry keep up the good work [Smile] terry is going for 160 and I bet he will it [Smile]

PS I knew single chamber was louder then separate thanks to brad firgard, me and rob hit his shop back in 04 he was testing a couple of box's and he tried all kinds of combination's and when he tried single chamber and one big port he gained about 1 db over anything else he tried and took that same box to finals. He even tried to wrap the port with some fiberglass to "smooth" it out but that lost him a couple of tenths.

He even showed us the ice cooler trick [Big Grin]

Well if you haven't done the doors or the back then you're going to break you 160 pretty easy. Ray can even confirm that the doors are at least .5db as much as 1db. Not including the rest of the car. But doors need to be done right. One piece of dynamat just to cover the holes so to seal the doors. You don't need to do the outside skin just cover the holes with one big or two sheets so the door doesn't look like swiss cheese. And doing the roof should be a gain too.

Can't wait for results. I thought the car was already done. Can't believe it's that loud with no sound deadening. CRAZY.
