Meade your a hell of a guy and anyone that's hatin on you is just jelous of your success. Especially the dumbasses at caraudio.com It's sad when people don't have anything better to do than hate on others because they have more of what they want.
Congrats on all the success. I couldn't think of a better person to get his own line of street beater sub. It looks like the sub may also be a good comp sub. We'll only be able to tell in time. I would say that you'll have a ton of success with them, they look like beasts

Well I'm liking Meade's sub, it kinda of reminds me of a couple custom 4hp US3(Matt Z) machined and built minus a slug. Either way I can tell you 1 of my 4hp 12's I have hooked to a hifonics colossus at about 1.3 ohms freaking laughs at the power its getting. Anything thats and improvement over the 4hp would be pretty nutts as most people will run out of power before they run out of sub.

Do you have any pictures? I have not yet seen any. I'm curious as to your 08s, were they the older style that were just made in 08 or are they the new promised driver with the 5-1/2" coil? I would love to see some pics. I know there are still drivers being made from already existing parts similar to the old ones with the 4hp derivative motors and baskets. Are the ones you have the ones with all new parts, basket carbon fiber cone and new spiders?? If so I will eat crow but as JD told me he has not made any yet I would be surprised, VERY surprised. Please do not take this as an attack or a flame, I'm just looking for clarification and to ask a producer to produce.
My bet is we'll see the SMD driver and in all likelihood the 4" DD both first in actual production.

those subs were built by TREO and I don't think TREO recones them. so you'd be better off with a TREO SSX or CXT if non competitors can get them... and even TREO subs are hard to get reconed by TREO from what I understand. so your best bet is to hope they don't break
and these Meade subs built by FI will be alot better than an SSX/U2 anyway and will be reconeable... so that proves the TREO/U2 worthless in my book. IMO any 4hp motor'd driver built with quality soft parts in a good matter would beat the snot out of a TREO/Kove SSX/U2 local shop here used to be a kove dealer, they blew both of their U2s in their demo vehicle and the only one I know of they sold had to get reconed at least once that I can recall. and I don't even know the guy who bought it very well. they're ok subs, but not much more than OK imo.

he said people that bag on him... so if you havent bagged on him your not included, you speak of a grammar error and then you cant even see the subject of a statement? go kill yourself

Why the 4" coil? I've yet to see a 4" coil that can be louder than a 3". That's why we made the Warden a 3" and not a 4".
Then there's folks that say a 4" can take more power. That's not the case at all either - all 4" coils are 2 or 4 layer coils vs a 3" 8 layer coil. Where the advantage? If the 3" gets too hot, you need a new cooling. Making a coil bigger with the same high-temp glue gives you that same issues.
I've seen just about about every 3" and 4" SPL driver there is and in everycase the 3" is better.
The dB Drag way is just to go bigger - let's put a 5" coil in it, with a 12" triple 1" slug motor all chromed out. It's gotta be loud!

True, a badly designed 4" subwoofer will always flop compared to a greater designed 3" version. 3" parts are also easier to come by and more refined than 4" parts. I also agree that bigger is not always better unless properly built.

thats a little harsh.. comparing to a what?? almost 10yr old design now... they shouldnt be compared at all IMO...

I will say the dc level 4 xl is one bad ass sub.
I in a box tuned to 52 hz we played a 20 hz note with 3k to them for 4min before they got hot and burnt up full tilt at 20hz in a box that was tuned to 52hz not bad at all.
Nice sub Rusty.
It was cool to see that we trashed it and it took it for that long just so we could rebuild it. i hate to waste a good coil why cut it out if its good have fun with it.
lol i even think we have a vid some where and to boot he played music on it all day and could not blow it. This is why we did the 20hz trick lol.
But i will say hands down its a sick sub Congrats Rusty nice sub.
