I have a 77 Caprice, nice big trunk. I'm looking for the best SQ/SPL sub(if there is such a thing, or SQ will do) I can find for under $250. Also should I go ported or sealed, I have 3 kids so I still need space to carry all there things when we go out. Your info will help out a lot.

not really a fan of sealed applications becaus the out put sucks
by the time you add the displacement of the port,
sub and enclosure a box can get rather large

if you want to have some storage space left I
would go with a ported single 12" sub....
most 12" need between 1.75 and 2.0cf3 of
effective air space (plus displacements) VS the 3.0 to 4.0 (plus displacements) needed for a
ported 15"

as far as the best sub goes...there really isn't one IMO
just stay away from Sony Explode's and you'll be OK

^ agreed but those are some rather large enclosures. hell i have a 15" in a 2.5cf ported enclosure not counting displacement for sub i run for comps.

12" 1.3-1.8 net
15" 2.8-3.5 net both for dailys.

hellz u can run a single 10" in 1cf ported net and reach 140dbs with a good install...
