got my rfl back but the kid who jacked it melted the voice coil. i put a brand new cone on and it sounds horrible. it sounds like its shorting and and it sounds like the cone is hitting the magnet but i used a feeler gage and i got .0035 of clearence all the way around. so i dont know wut happened. i think maybe something is down inside the magnet or something but its impossible to get them apart. Can anyohne help me?

haha no, he had never been caught stealin before so he would have just got a slap in the wrist from the law.so jst beat the piss out of him. the stupid kid had been bumpin it around town and asked one of my friends why its sounded so bad. so my buddy told me he had it and he delt with me lol. back to the problem i cant get it to sound half way decent. its really crackly like the connection is bad,, but i can find there that woud be. i really think something is in the magnets. is there anyway to take the magnet covers off?

unbolt the recone and blow it out with compressor air. carpenters usually have a nozzle much like a water hose gun nozzle... high pressure air can get stuff outta the gap, or c02 pressurized will work. we use tanks at work to clear out clogged electrical piping or blast water out of them before pulling in the wires...
