Ok, so I am doing another build in an '02 Altima. The person currently has 1 Kove Armageddon U2 (same as the Treo SSX) in a 4cu/ft Ported Box, Tuned @ 36hz. It gets Loud, but NOWHERE near what I think it should sound like. They are using a Cadence A7HC Amp @1ohm doing about 1400wrms, along with a Memphis Line Driver. Gain on the Amp is turned up mayyybe 1/5 of the way and the Line Driver is turned up almost all the way, but the Clipping Light does not come on on the Line Driver. Bass Boost is actually turned down to about -12db. Sub is playing from about 100hz down.

Now, I am trying to get them to do 2 DD 2515's, keeping the Cadence Amp & Line Driver in there, just changing out the Subs & Box.

So what would the Optimal Enclosure be for 2 2515's being Powered by the Cadence Amp in an Altima? They listen to Rap, Hip Hop, Techno, ect... Basically all the Music with ALOT of Bass. And they want to be able to play the Radio at High Volume for a while and not have to worry about the Subs blowing or cutting out.

The Kove Sub in there now, cuts out periodically, because it's a 2500wrms Sub being pushed with only 1400wrms, and the person is trying to get too much volume out of it I think. When it cuts out, if you feel the Cone, it's pretty hot.

when the cone/dust cap gets hot ur pushing it too hard. never heard of a sub cutting out from heat except for when it blows. it is probley the amp cutting out from pushing it too hard.

turn the gain down to alittle under 1/4. you want to turn bass boost to 0. if the equipment has a - it is cutting bass out. turn the crossover to AT LEAST 80hz and lower. make sure he isnt playing below tunning too...

I don't think it's the Amp. It's hardly even warm, and when the Bass cuts out, the Green Power light stays on, and the Red Protect light doesn't light up or anything.

Picture a Clock. Gain down is at 7 Gain up is at 5. Right now the Gain is only at 9. So it really is barely up.

With the Bass Boost, 12 is 0 7 is -18db and 5 is +18db. Right now Bass Boost is at about 9 also, so it's taking atleast 12db out.

...but it is possible that since the Sub is 2500wrms and it's only getting 1400wrms, that this person is trying to get too much Volume out of it, right?

Subsonic is on, it think it's set at 20hz.

But would they be better off going with the 2 DD's because they'd be almost spot-on with the RMS Ratings. The Subs combined would be 1500wrms and the Amp is doing 1400wrms.

the sub could have a bad spot in the coil, only allowing it to cut out at certain frequencies or certain excursion levels.

have you set the headunit to find where it clips? most headunits are around 3/4 of there vol some start distorting before that...

I'd like to see pix of the amps bass boost saying it cuts the bass... second 1400rms isn't frying the sub or amp. pushing them into clipping attempting to get more power out of it is. pretty hard for a sub to cut in and out 99% chance it's the amp. if coils are in parallel it'd have to have BOTH leadwires bad. since that's unlikely unless it's wired in series, I'm pretty sure it's the amp going into protect regardless of what lites are on.
