I hope i am not reading this right but if i am this would not work very well at all your system would sound like crap and it would be very bad for both your sub and amp.

Sure, you can do that if the amp is in a seperate airspace then the sub. But it would be much easier and run cooler if it was out of the box and just mounted to the back of the box.

it was a good idea he wanted something where he could leave the car open and nobody could mess with the amp pots.

you've never heard of shops putting wax on the pots and switches on an amp. That way if the customer adjusted the amps, you don't have to be so lenient on warranty'ing your work or installation. Basically, a customer pays us to install equipment he's buying from us. We install everything, and set gains, etc. with an o-scope...and put a bit of wax on the knobs. The customer comes back next week with blown equipment. We take a quick look and notice the gain, lpf,if, or bassboost have been changed, we know they decided to crank the knobs, and that's why they blew it up. At that point, we will send the amp or sub out for warranty repair...but no in-stock swap. We also would charge shipping an reinstallation fees. Because it's not blown because of our installation. Our work has been messed with
