I have a ford escape and trying to build a box for spl but not having a ton of luck right now. I started with just a street box with a slot port in the middle with 2 dd 9912f's and american bass and then made another box for spl.

Here is the new box:

i tried it side firing, back firing, ports inside the box, ports outside the box, subs (even tried swithching the top plate) and none of it was as loud as my street box.. which is really disappointing because i was really hoping it was going to push me up like 2 db. instead it dropped me down 1.5db..

the best way i could figure out to configure the box was with the top plate switched around so that the subs are at the back of the box, ports inside the box, and firing towards the back of the vehicle.

but i have pretty much given up on this box and thinking of doing another.. any suggestions? was thinking of maybe using 4 ports (2 on each side) instead of just 3.. and maybe running the box chambered instead of just open..

What are the specs on each box you have tried? Box volume, dimentions, tuning, port area, port inside the box or out?

Have you tried the usual .9-1.2 cube seperate enclosure spl ported box per 12 commonly used?

Try this...26 x 26 x 14 with 6 4'' aeroports 10-13'' long.

Subs to the pass side, and ports to the rear.

That box will do a 154+ in an explorer

Also put a brace inbetween the woofer holes that is as deep as the woofer motors, I used 2 layers of 3/4'' so it was 1.5'' wide, by like 8'' deep with shocker sigs. And then of course 12.5'' tall.

Try that out and let me know how it does

yes that is very similar to the beemerx5 box i had but except i only ran 4 ports seperated chambers subs above port towards tailgate subs firing up. I think tuning your car Craig is key to the install
