If you were looking for a shallow mount sub which one would you pick and why?

Are there serious disadvantages to getting a shallow mount subwoofer?

JL TW5 13". Sweet as hell. They just came out two weeks ago. 2.5" mounting depth!!!!! that's an inch shallower than any other shallow sub i've seen. and we carry the rockford, premier, excelon, and JL shallows. up to 600rms power without voiding warranty. i vote for the JL
P3's are shallower than the premiers, and the excelons are thicker than either.

and do you have a very specific need to get a shallow? if not, just stick with a standard sub.

yea i have a audiopipe 12" sitting here that i want to install when i get the time. 1000rms but single 4ohm 5.5" vc and 4.13 mounting depth. the cone and surrond look alot like pioneer. the motor is different than i have seen there is a aditional magnet slug on top of the top plate.

draw back to shallow mount subs is excursion and voice coil configurations...

Sure did. Gotta keep up the oldschool pics. Once upon a time, tweed was popular. go figure.

and the mounting lips is barely a 1/4". but the mounting is on the side extensions. The sub is already 13.5". It's got the shallowest depth for sure, but it still isn't easy to find that kind of diameter under most truck seats.

size of the mounting lips shouldn't really matter if you route the hole correctly, seal it and screw it down good. I'm sure the frame is strong enough to handle the power,,,unless you're an idiot and have a baffle that flexes like the Incredible Hulk
