I have 1 of these in my Honda Civic. I built the box my self its 3.75 cubic feet with the sub in it should be right around 3 cubes. The box is sealed. My question is I had it put on the meter and I only hit a 133.7 but I had a crappy amp the sub was probably getting 400 watts. Now I have a pretty powerful amp (Autotek mx2000) and it gets plenty of power would I score better on the meter if I ported this box?? Or should I leave it sealed? I've heard several different suggestions just curious of what you guys think.

It will get alot louder ported if you do it right. Use the biggest ported box suggested on kickers website. Face everything into the cabin of the car with the back seat folded down, so sub and port on the same side pointing to the inside of the car.

There's no way if your box is 3.75cuft that it is only 3cuft after sub displacement. The L7 15 does not take up .75cuft. It's more like .25cuft displacement fo the 15 at most.

Cool, thanks for letting me know so I am more around 3.5 cubes. I plan on building a new ported box this weekend. I just hope its easier on me this time. My trunk opening is only about 16.5 inches which doesnt leave much room so I had to build my last box in the car which wasnt very easy

I'd try around 4.5cuft of internal airspace with something like 48sqin of port area. Depending on tuning would determine the length of your port. I've also seen the L7 15's in boxes as large as 6cuft, but I wouldn't go that big because it's not necessary. You have a decent amount of power and should get very loud at 4.5 cubes. I would say you would be happy tuning in the mid to high 30hz range so you're looking at about 17.5 in long for a tuning of 35hz with the 48sqin of port area. I'm not an expert with these subs, but this has been a loud box for some other 15's that I've used.

would 4.5 cubes fit in my trunk? I have a honda civic. The problem I am having building a box is my trunk opening is 16.5 inches so it can only be that in height by about 36 inches wide at maxany suggestions?
