I have an 99 F-150 extended cab with a custom box.

I blew the subs that were in the box and I am getting new ones but I would like some advise on the size and box type.

The new subs will be the Cerwin Vega V-max subs and a Brutus 1600D amp. What I want to know is should I go 2 10's or 2 12's with the box space I have. The box is 57"x12"x8". This will leave 2" from the back of the sub to the box. I will devide the box so the 57" will be cut in half. The box is currently sealed and by my estimates it's about 3.5 ft3. Also the subs are down firing into the floor under the rear seat. there is 2.5" of firing space.

I listen to mostly heavy metal (Dope, System of a Down, ect) and some rap ocasionally. I like it loud also (and I have the amp to give that to me).

So here are the questions that need answered.

1. Sealed or Ported---Why? Is there enough space, ect?
2. What will be the best fit, 10's or 12's. Why? Also I want it to sound good being in a small area (not like in the trunk of a car).

Thanks to all that offer help,
CB

P.S. If I can get any better subs then the Vega's for the same price ($200) then give me an example.

the 12s will be almost 12.5 diameter so ur gonna have to go with the 10s. i say 1.3-1.5cf per tuned to 34hz. those subs will handle every bit of that power and some. i have a customer running 2 10s off a db drive 2000.1 at 15.1 volts daily. that amp puts out quite a bit more than 2k rms. they have been in there a yr no problems.
i dont know about how the new vmaxs are or how they hold up...
