I personally like the DD subs better. I have never had a failure at any event with them and there are always ways to build any sub to be louder than another. It all just depends on the install.

For spl the DD's in my test are a little bit louder but only by a couple tenths. Atomic is a good sub for the money but DD has more consistent product.

Atomic imo uses really cheap surrounds and cones and as such they tear apart really easily. If I was going to get an atomic sub I would get it without soft parts and recone it myself with a better cone from somewhere else because their cones are jokes

i remember reconing a APX motor for a guy, the pole piece was never finished, it was still rough cut. The coil only went about 1/2 way down the pole, then couldn't go anymore. SJA has little quality control, but when the motors are built properly, they are awesome. yes the cones from them can suck, mine are alot tougher, and sit flush.

DD is loud, but their arrogance annoys me

I have used 2 x APXX18's in my SS1-2 car for nearly 2 years now, meaning I have done 350+ burps and they are still going strong. Running dual 5000.1's into each sub (162+db). Thinking of reconing soon but only to lower impedence slightly.
