Typically my understanding is for spl purposes a 3 inch coil works better and more efficient. Less weight for one. Now power handling. 4 inch all the way baby. But that also is decided by cooling of the sub and coil windings

in street class, 3" coil for sure. 4" is going to be less efficient. The 3" should handle whatever you can burp off a limited electrical system in street

X2 to what has been posted. No need for 4" in street with the small battery limit. Even in streetmax where you can use a multicell hand have more power its still not enough.

Why are you turning this into something about you and how much you know or don't know John?
I'll be the first to tell you that I don't know everything. Or even close to everything.
But this post was about what would be louder in street. And a motor of the same diameter and gap size the 3" would be louder than the 4" I would think at least because of moving mass being lower and motor strength being higher on the 3".

Steve Cook ran 3" coil Crossfire subs and is breaking 170's all day. Bob runs 4" coil subs and more of them so 3" coil must be better for SS5+.
hmm i never had my hands on the crossfire subs but wat if there 3inch coils are long coils...how would that compare to 4inch coils

I tried both and they where about the same. But typically 3" is more efficient. So if you plan on doing street class I'd stick with 3"
