I work at best buy, and i have found alot of people feel the need to bash us regarding punch amps.. or just in general this is somthing i take much offence to, being im proud to work there, and the opportunities i have been presented, as well as the system i have now.. consisting of rockford componets.. so to put it all to rest, this is an email a recieved from Jay Small of rockford corp.
"Ryan, The model number issue has caused a little confusion among our dealers. I'm glad you asked the question.
For the record the amplifiers that Best Buy carries are identical internally to the amplifiers carried by our other dealers. In other words a Punch 800aII (Best Buy) is internally identical to the Punch 800a2 (all other dealers). The only difference is the actual number and the color of the badge. Performance is the same in both models.
The other dealers also have access to our Power Series line which does differ somewhat from the Punch Series. The main differences are a steeper slope crossover and remote Punch Bass control. There are also a couple of small mono amplifiers in the Power Series line.
Thanks for your support,
Jay Small Director of RTTI 480-517-3155 smallja@rockfordcorp.com"
most people here are cool about it.. but if anyone asks you the question, please inform them accordingly.. thanks Ryan
