Swapped the MT 15's for the FI BTL's ( MT's reconed to BTL's with all options Except cooling )
# 1. The BTL plays LOUDER than the MT
# 2. The BTL plays LOWER than the MT
# 3. BTL sounds better

When I turned them up I got the shock of my life. These woofers are just stupid LOUD, and so so clean. If you thought it was loud before, just wait till you hear the BTL's!!! The high X-max cone seems to allow the woofers to go much lower and sound better doing it. The higher bass is just plain SCARY LOUD. JUST AMAZING. To SCOTT at FI, thanks you for hooking me up proper, and to Steve Meade for showing me the BTL's in person.

FI all the way guys.
10/10 = SQ is on par with my XXX 15
10/10 = LOUDNESS
10/10 = LOUD @ LOW frequencies.

the mt is not a sq woofer. it is a spl sub. & what sounds louder to the ear may not always be stronger on a meter. if compareing sq then it would be more fair to compare the xxx to the fi.
fi is a very nice sub. infact scott w/ fi used to be parter in re corporation.

It's your imagination dude. I've had both of them. They are basically the same sub.
Maybe your MT needed to be reconed. Are they the exact same coil configuration?

The MT 15's were Dual 2ohm
The FI BTL's are NOW dual 1.4 ohm

The MT's burped a 150.0
The FI BTL's Burped a 152.5 today

Just my opinion guys and the meter said what I thought, louder for sure. And YES I got LOVE FOR RE TOO.

Different coil configs., that may get a little more out of your amp.
Do your history on those two subs and you will find your answer.

let me get this straight...you used full fi recones on mt's?

and they sounded that different? very interesting! are you positive that the parts used on both drivers were identical?

it was certainly not a fair spl comparison if they were different impedances! also, I have to ask, if you used an fi recone on an mt, was it a prebuilt kit or did you put the parts together from scratch?

Scott from FI reconed them with all the options except cooling. Yes, going from dual 2 to dual 1.4 helped a bit. Also they guys at FI said they tweaking the suspension a bit and many others had reported good gains as well.

BTL coil won't fit in a MT...

You probably went from a dual 2ohm roundwire to a dual 1.4ohm flatwire coil...which does make a significant difference...

So really your not reviewing a BTL, your reviewing a MT with some of our soft parts in it [Smile] .

Thanks!

I have been trying to tell him that, I have seen recones from both a MT and a BTL the BTL Voicecoil looks bigger and more beefier

there is a differrnce between a MT and BTL dont be fooled by people telling you they are the same, cause they are not.
