This is a quote from a diffrent thread.

The following test was done in the Max 1-2 truck with 1 RE MT 18" 2.1ohm sub, single battery, single Autotek MM4000.1D with a--- transformer---, burped with the vehicle off, and 14volts at burp.

---1ohm DCR W/Transformer = .5ohm DCR----

Volts / Amps / Watts / Reactive Load
91 26.8 2442 3.39
102 30.7 3133.7 3.32
105 33 3467 3.18
108 35 3787 3.08
112 37 4139 3.03

With a single 6 volt and single 8 volt= 14volts

Volts / Amps / Watts / Reactive Load

same volume as last test at 12volts
108 40 4320 2.7

This completes our testing with the Autotek so that we can concentrate on the Goliath. Be sure to thank Eric for the time he had in testing.
..................................
.............NOW..........
WHAT is the transformer used for......and why ???

A transformer is a piece of equipment used to change the impedence the amp sees. Kind of fools the amp actually.

I've never liked using them, things can go wrong quick if you're not extremely careful.

Right now I'm at D4's and I'm thinking of going to a D.7 or D.9 I would like to know what set p would give me the most power for my setup. Would a Transformer serve let me try diffrent setup's with out re-coneing a GOOD...under warranty speaker.

Pete, what coils do you current have? Are you running the amps bridged or stereo? I would assume from you notes in the amp thread that they are bridged.

Depending on what coils he has now, I personally would recommend a 1ohm DCR mono for burps on the XXV Colossus. [Wink]

The amp's are running bridged. Now the sub's are dual 4 in parrel to 2.2. After my impeadince rise is like 4.36 ohm reactive...this is the way it's setup for a show. With seat's in(and a 4 db loss my rise is 3.78rective.

I am going to start tuneing the box but I know to start with my impeadince rise is KILLING my power.

I was think like dual .7-.9's and run the amp stereo(I have been told there stronger this way) I could also run Ohm's X if the amp were bridged with the sub in parrel, but I would have no clue what load. Dual 2ohm coil's COULD BE a option but I am getting in a little over my head on how to figure what coil's before and after box rise. I have also been told tuneing the box could make BIG change's to my rise.

Any more help or idea's ??????????

Keep working hard! You're making a great start by testing all the things you are, and working hard on your vehicle!

Keep it up!

Work on the enclosure first don't waste money on coils right now unless you are hard up for a few db gain. I wold really suggest you decide how many amps you want to run first. If you decide to purchase two more amps the coil configuration is going to change again.

Right now 2 amp's is all my wife will let me have(I would like to stay happyly maried) My money is fairly tight right now,if I were to buy amp it won't be any time soon,as soonest this time next year. I know I'm going to be hard pressed to get loud with the power I have. I will start with the box and see where I end up....I'm just wondering how much longer my sub's will hold up. I have to clip the $hit out of my amp's to get good number's,and I know that's hard on sub's. I was thinking diffrent coil's would give me more power(less clipping) and make the sub's a little happyer.

As for the coil's I had thought about the .7-.9's so I could run amp's stereo right now,if I added amp's I could then bridge one coil the each amp. Was this a good theroy ????

I am not that familiar with the amps you are using but I believe they are rated 3200w bridged @ 2ohm. That being said, I would run dual 1 ohm coils with 2 amps in stereo or dual 2 ohm bridged. and dual 2 ohm bridged with 4 amps. There is not reason to run your equipment to the ragged edge until necessary. You should be able to squeeze a 157+ out with 2 amps loaded correctly which is going to win 99% of the time.

If you want to try some dual 2's let me know, I can build you something you can try you won't want to give them back though...

This is what I was thinking...not wanting to beat my stuff,in this case I would like to be able to have the power I need with out clipping the liveing day light's out of the amp's.

What could you build.....tell me more ???

Something comparable to what you are using in a 2 ohm version. It would be a little louder and a lot more robust though. Now if you want to try out some big dog woofers thats another story lol.
