JL's main goal is SQ...period. There's gonna be lots of opinions on/about JL...and I happen to own some of therir subs. Remember the 15w3?? They get pretty dam loud, if fed the right amount of power and enclosure design.

Funny, and my 15w3's at the time when I had them took a MTX 81000D with ease. No fryin' coils. If you want 1000 rms watts to a sub, better stick with RE or DD... or heck even a W7.

Well what U not not say was your 15W3's took a MTX amp ok how many sub's are you running off that amp. And the other one running a 18W3 WOW to you also 600 watts I'm impressed G an 18 that can take 600 watts man now I wanna buy 100 of them

First off I work for an upsacale jl dealer now (No.1 in the country last year if I was passed the info correctly).. Second I have in the past had a pretty fair hatred/disinterest of JL because of the attitudes of the owners(JLs the shizzle and can't be beat, blah blah blah). But I digress, I even went into my newest install job and tried to have an open mind and ended up being pleasantly surprised with the new gear. The W6V2's are very nice and the W7's can't be beat for SQ/SPL combo unless you step up to a larger sub for the extra output. We've had XXX and MT come through and while they are kickass subs they were louder but SQ was on par at best and I'll leave it at that. I do miss the SQ of the old DD 9100 series in a nice box though.. And my personal faves are still my old SoundStream SS12-Rs even though most new JLs will spank them on output.
/RANT/I don't see any "JL Killers" out right now but these comparisons usually end up as personal pissing contests anyway so I'll leave it to be happy with whatever sounds best to you and does what you want it to do. And the MTX ads (RF amps as well as JL subs) are BS marketing at it's finest, I lost a lot of what little respect I had for MTX after they pulled that crap out of their crack.. Kinda reminds me of political elections, Full of BS and you have to read between the lines to see that the whole comparison doesn;t really matter. /RANT?

for an example, i've had an avid JL fan try out treo tsx's in place of his W3's. that is second level to second level. used the same box (designed for his W3's) and kept his 1000.1. he gained 2 db on the termlab and sounded every bit as good. = jl killer. by experience, not personal pissing match.
