I purchased this reconed Inhuman 18" today... dual 4 ohm voice coils, triple soft spider.

What are the specs of this subwoofer?

What are the recommended sealed and ported enclosures?

At the current moment I'm looking at a sealed 3CF box with polyfill. I reckon that it will be slightly peaky but it should be fine.

Have fun fitting that in a 5.0. [Smile] Unless it is in a wall, it ain't gonna happen. And yes, port it and give it lots of power and port area and it will absolutely slam!

I've got one in a 5.5cft enclosure, ported, tuned to 45Hz, and she rocks. Tune between 35 and 45 Hz and you should be fine, that used to be the general guidelines for that sub.

Hmmm... but say I'm not going for all out output.

I am just going for street-beating... no SPL one-note-wonders.

Amplifier I am using will be a CF BMF1000d and getting another is not a problem if needed.

Realistically, what would be the smallest I could go? 3CF net with about 3lbs of polyfill (sealed). Should be a little peaky I am guessing (I don't have any of the specs on hand to run a simulation cause Beyond Audio is down and out) but it should still give me a good amount of output.

Also I am looking to get new vehicle... Nissan 240SX so I would probably be able to extract ~5-6CF out of the trunk if I glassed and also took out the spare tire.

The smallest you COULD go would be ~ 6cubes net.

You're better off selling it and getting a 12", or maybe a 15". You don't have the room to properly port it.

There are no standard specs for the Inhuman as they were all custom built. In my humble opinion i would try the box that you want to try and see if you like it, but i'm going to have to argee with what everyone else has said, if you port it with about 7-8 cubes tuned 30-35 it will absoulutly devastate the sealed box and sound well doing it. If you can't get a box that big you may want to look into selling it and purchase a 12 or 15 they will offer you better preformance then an 18 that is being suffocated. Also if i was in your situation i would want to do about 2000 watts on it

My box isn't a one note wonder, it was for street beating with the Inhuman, and it does that great. Inhuman 18 guidelines per Don were always 6-8cft ported, tuned to 35-45Hz. If you wanted ported, I've run it in a 5.5 slot ported design, rolled off around 30Hz, and it pounded like crazy. Sealed, of course, I would be willing to bet 3.5-4.5 could work, but I have never done it myself. It's what works best in your car.
