If I am going to build a sealed enclosure(going for S/Q) for 2 x 12 subs, is it better to put them both in a single chamber or give each sub its own chamber?

All advice welcomed.

Blu.

A divider makes a very good brace. Provided that bracing is addressed there is really no need to put in a full division.

No partition is needed if your running those subs mono. However, if your doing subs in stereo, make 2 separate boxes, or a partition that is completely sealed. IMHO.

Thanks Dukk & Audiophyle, I appreciate the replies.

I will be powering the system with a Soundstream 705S in 3 channel mode - 1 channel to the tweets, 1 to the mids and one to the subs @ 2 Ohms. So I guess a well braced single chamber enclosure will be OK.

Is there a "rule of thumb" to calculate sufficient bracing?

Thanks,

Blu

easy way to figure boxes with bracing ect... just take a few to figure out how it works other than that I would put a half inch peice of plywood inbetween the subs and make a 8in circle or whatever in it so it doesnt block the 2 chamber, but still adds a brace in the middle. Then depending on how big the box is using 2x2's on the edges and the calking or fiberglassing it will keep the box from stripping the screw holes out
