This may have been brought up a few times before, if so, my apologies - any links would be most appriciated.
If I do a system in my s-10, I'd probably go with 2 8s. However, a sealed enclosure small enough to fit behind the bench (fully pushed back) may not yield the umph that I'm used to with my Vifa 8s (~1.5 cubic feet/enclosure) in the basement. However, a ported box may be too big for the limited space of the s-10.
Would a Passive Radiator work? On PE's page, they state that the same diameter should be used, however, I wasn't sure if using a 12" radiator would work or if would just sound sloppy. I've not designed an enclosure utilizing Passive Radiators before, but I've heard some very nice stage monitors that utilized them (home designed by the technical theatre sound techs).
I asked the same question on here a few days ago. I saw that link on Parts express, but that looked awefully high to me. I'm going to try find a blown sub and just use it. I'm guessing the est ratio is 1.5 times the surface of your driver. For the 8's, I'd recomend a 12 PR. For my 10, I'm going to try a 15". try that link and see if that helps.

Since a PR functions the same as a port, you would need roughly the same box size as you would if you had a port. It could be a little smaller with a PR, since no port volume would be required, but ports will always get more "ohhhs and ahhhs", since it doesn't look like you have another driver in the box like with a PR. Anotherwords, the "shock and awe" campain would be more fruitful
