The subs will be JLw3. What will have more SPL three 10" or two 12". What type of enclosure will work better, sealed or ported.

Umm Ported ported ported! And JL preaches that their subs preform best in sets of 3 so IM taking the 3's would be louder

I just don't believe that their subs sound any better when they are joined by two of their siblings. Louder, but if anything, you can only add problems by adding more subs, especially from a SQ standpoint. The reason why JL's are usually seen in 3's is so that you can run them in a series parrallel to get about a 4 ohm mono load on your amp. They pushed that with the W6's, but the W3's come in different impedences besides dual 6 ohm. The thing that really matters is the cone area between the two. Ported is definately the way to go for loud tunes.

correct me if I'm wrong, but also Dual 2 ohm, and also Dual 4 ohm...

If Dual 4 ohm, series the two coils on each sub, then parallel them... 4 ohm mono.
