What's your setup? Box, amp, EQs/processors, etc... The tinsel leads shouldn't pull off until you're pushing ~20mm one way (well past the linear limits of the driver).

no adire is VERY good... i just dont like the company who builds the shivas and tempest... plays great but i dunno maybe its the materials or the way its constructed but i dunno.
the tempest and shiva should be made by the people who make the brahma and other awesome subs... but i guess thats why the shiva and tempest is so cheap..... then again the shiva isnt really origionally a car sub. and the car environment and amps are brutal.
if u can warrenty the thing then talk to the guy above me... dan wiggins, hes the best and he knows his stuff...
sorry if i said anything bad about adire but i was only kidding, but i did find out that the brahma and shiv/temp/mal are made by two different companies soooo i think i see y there might be some problems/differences in the way they work, plus the design is totally diff....
anyone care to share their view on y this happened?
p.s. - the tempest can take over 12 blasts/burps from a wall outlet (thats one strong cheapazz COIL!!!!)

That company that builds Shivas and Tempests (and Maelstroms) for us also builds for at least 50% of the car audio industry. It's not the build house, it's probably simply overdriving the speaker. All speakers have limits...

Too much power, too big of a box. Demanded too much excursion - slammed the suspension of the driver too many times.

I think that just summarized the quality of the drivers - it's not the build quality that's the problem. It's most likely the application it's used in.

i think if there was something done to the drivers they could take more abuse...
but like u said (dan) the sub was prolly abused in some way and u cant always tell when ur stressing a driver beyond its limits.
thanks for giving us some info on why the subs can break.... IMO the tempest, shiv., etc have too loose of a suspension for a car audio application but work PERFECTLY for home audio. i dont know maybe its me but i like a stiffer suspension. but whatever makes u happy.
all in all i agree with dan. hes a smart man and i trust in what he says is 1000% acurate.
hey dan.,.. keep up the good work, and as always: DANS THE MAN!
