Tonight I put in my Xtant 1001dx and Diamond Audio MacDaddy 12.8. I would only running the amp at 2 ohms, so it would be at half power. I emailed Xtant cause I don't know if I have the subs hooked up right to the amp. 2 ouptputs for a mono amp just doesn't make sense to me. But the sub sounds like crap when it hits hard, and it isn't very loud. I have 0 guage running to it too. I'm wondering if I have the sub wired up right though. I wired it in parallel. I'm going to take the sub out again and see if I wired it wrong, but I would really appreciate it if someone could help me. My last setup with a 500 watt Crunch amp and a Kenwood sub sounded twice as loud so I'm really bummed Thanks

Everything looks good with the wiring and stuff. It is a sealed box. I need a new box. It is way to small for it. Will a box that is to small cause it to bottom out? If so, I'm sure that is the problem. That sub needs between .8 and 1.2 sealed. I got the box with the sub and never even thought about it, cause the guy only ran about 200 watts to it. But anyways, the box is only like .64 cubic feet. Take dispacment out and I am going to have problems. I am SO dang stupid Do you think that is my problem??? Well I'm going to put some poly fill in there and keep it turned down until I can build a new box. Thanks

The box is way to small, only about .64 cu ft. And I'm sure that isn't good for it. I need to get some time to build a 1 cuft box and see if that makes any differene. Anything that you all say will probably help too. In the manual this model says 250 at 4ohms, 500 at 2ohms, and 1000 at 1 ohm. I'm going to get a Bass Cube, and see if it helps any. I hooked up my old Kenwood Tornado Sub to it last night. It's a single 4 ohm sub. It was in a bigger box but the mounting depth is to small to fit the MacDaddy in. Even when i turn the gains way down I get nothing. I have heard people putting like 1200 watts on their MacDaddy and they love it. Here is the manual.

Well I stuffed some poly fill in the box today and it's not bottoming out any more. I don't really understand why that is, but it makes me feel better. The only thing I am still wondering is that if I make this box bigger, is the sub going to sound any louder. Cause right now I'm kind of disappointed. I know it isn't a whole lot of power, but my buddies Optimus 400 watt amp and pyle 10in subs are sounding better and louder Do you think that if I got a bass cube that it would help? I have taken the sub out and checked the wiring about 5 times and it looks right. I'm thinking of asking someone to look at it. Maybe building a bigger box to see if that works first. I'm looking at getting another so that I can run the amp at 1 ohm too. Thanks

if yo uhave any free time just e-mail them and ask what a good size ported box would be tuned to around 35-38 hz's.
90% of the time ppl gane with a ported box and it will sound better then go from there. also you may want to try the sub in the bigger box but just invirt the sub to see if that help's.

I'm going to put them behind the seat of my truck though. Believe me, I would go ported if I could fit it. Just from all of the reviews I have read between this sub and amp I should be getting a little loud.

Diamond Macdaddy 12.8s just aren't very loud subs. I had one--sounded awesome sealed, but it just wasn't loud at all. Couldn't get loud sealed. Porting made a world of difference. The fairly low Qts (around .3, I believe) is the main reason for this... Port that sucker and it should be loud enough for you.
[EDIT] Didn't see your post about being in a truck ... sucks for you ...Try an Adire Brahma instead -- it's soooo much louder than the Macdaddy ever was.

I would love to put a Brahma behind my seat, but the mounting depth is a little to big for it to fit back there. When you ported your subs, how much louder did it make them? How big was the box too? Thanks

Hmm.... .68 internal chamber is actually perfect for that sub with the power you're running. The more power you give to them, the lesser space they require(at least that's what it says on the website). Maybe your crossover point is not set correctly. Try different crossover point. (2) Maybe your box is not sealed tightly? Or maybe it's a crappy box? (3) It could be due to driving your sub with a class D amp? If you have a class A/B amp, swap it out and see if it makes any difference. If you don't have one, borrow your friends.

The ported box I built for the Macdaddy was a little large, but this was intentional because I only had 300W to give it. It was about 2 cubes tuned to about 30Hz w/ 27 square inches of port. I overbuilt the box -- I would imagine a good box could be considerably smaller -- try modeling up about 1.5 cubes tuned around 32-34Hz w/ only 12" square inches (4" round port) -- should have good results. Kick the subsonic filter on set to the tuning frequency or just below it. Don't have T&S specs in my WINISD so I can't double-check this, but I think I'm pretty close with that recomendation.
