I had a buddy that had one of them and if I rember right they took a very small box. Like around .75 to 1 cu.ft. seald. As for box shape I think as long as the parts that extrude into the center console is open to the main body of the box with little to no restiction then it is ok. I mean if there is a small opening between the two parts there could be some trouble. Maybe I might be wrong. I don't claim to be an exspert box builder but I do put togeter the toughes angles.

REalize this, a sealed box is filled with what? AIR, and air takes the shape of the compartment or container it is in. Thus, all the air is filled inside the box no matter what shape it takes. Granted, nbuilding a box that is not a perfect cube can be tricky finding the internal volume, but just stick to some basic principals and you should have no troulbe.

If you want to be the man....... fiberglass the inside and fll it with water to get the exact volume.... real men do it this way

.75 to 1 ft^3 sounds about right but i am hoping to get something pretty exact for good spl and sq......the reason some air will go into the center console is i am a tall guy in a standard cab s-10 with the seats all the way back.....the speakers will not share the same airspace and i am going to build a console from the box all of the way up to the dash using a portion of that for more airspace...and i was thinking of making the back wall of the box with 1/2" mdf and the rest 3/4"...or should i not use 1/2" at all.....i want this to be perfect and be pretty planned out cuz i dont wanna have to do it twice.....but i think the center console idea was cool and hope it works...i hope to get lots of replies and get my ideas from that.....thanks guys..

If you glass the inside of the box like said above you might be able to get by with 1/2 on the back but this is not going to gain you alot of space. It will gain you about .1Cu.ft. I don't have an S10 but have built in them before. I use about 44" for leght and 15" for hight and .25" for the diference for 1/2" to 3/4" wood and got 165in^3. That is only 165/1728ft^3 or .09548ft^3. That is for the hole back wall now each driver is going to use 1/2 of that.
