What, if any, would be the cons of switching impedances with relays....I have the two DVC subs and want to run them at 2 ohms daily..but also want to try running them at .5 by engaging a remote switch
If i were to do this with relays would I be looking at signal corruption?

It will most likely not add any noise to the system. When you go to an audio store, their displays use relays to change between speakers, amps, and source units.

You shouldnt have any problem with doing the relays. If you ever suspect anything, change out the relays or pop them open and inspect for any type of corrosion or oxididation. Just to see how good your connections are, I would take an spl measurement before and after the installation of the relays to see just how much loss you have. Make sure all the settings are the same for the test. I would also make the switch of impedances with the amps off......Just in case the amp freaks out.
I build a sound room for a shop here in Cookeville and build the switching system out of Bosch style relays and had way more problems than I though I would have.

I did the same thing with 3 JL 12W6s to swtich between 1 and 4 ohms. Was actually a huge PITA to wire them all but had no problems with them. Make sure you get realys that can cary enough current. I also had a circuit to temporarily turn on the amp when it was switching so you didn't have to have the system off when you switched.

Same as how I would do mine...Wire 2 coils on each sub in series...then parallel each pair with a relay...so you would have two 4 ohm loads in parallel=2 ohms...plus the second sub= 1 ohm
