Can some one explain how to read ts parameter to jugde a sub.

Plus want is the difference between a $100 car audio sub and a $100 pro audio sub. Why can't they be used in a car.

they can but.....

Home subs usually have higher Ohms.

You don't use TS parameters to just look at em and go, that subs awesome or it sucks, more to it than that.

PRO audio is made for different purpose. You Could use it in ur car,but it may not do what you want.

Exactly.
How ever u can tell somethings..

Once you know what they are...
t/s specs

Read that link Then
-General rules (with exceptions)
Fs
the sub will not play so well below this frequency(distortion)Tune a ported box above Fs normally.

Qts
This shows the control
Lower values like 0.3-0.4 for ported boxes
Higher values 0.4 + for sealed boxes

to decide between ported and sealed,
Fs/Qes= a number,50-60+ use ported.below 50 use sealed,around the middle ,either box is okay.

Impedence
Make sure your amp can output the power you want, into the load your sub is
if your sub is 2ohms and ur amp is only 4ohm capable,it will not function,or be damaged.

A 15" with 5mm xmax is like 2x12"s with 5mm xmax..
(~800sq cm area) (~850cm sq area)

FAQ

read that diysubs site its good for a start.
PM me for more info if u want.

i am am refering to pro audio like Eminence If the ts- parameters are similiar to the car audio sub. will it be a similair speaker.

Also i notice that Eminence has to Xmax's mechancal and 8mm of voice coil in gap.

now a dd has like 8mm and the Eminence has 5-6mm with voice coil in gap.

DD-27 mm( i think) other wise and Eminence has 15 mm

DD has 100 EBP Eminence has 100-200 EPB

DD has fs of 34 ave Eminence has 30-50

If running lower power, big box, higher tuning 40 Hzs. could o pro audio sub for 150 be better than a dd for 300-600.

I have blown subs because of high tuning i thought a pro audio sub might lower this possiblilty with high EPB and fs.

You just admitted yourself you blew them with too high a tuning frequency and now you think changing subs might help. It won't. Tuning frequency is a result of box parameters, get a new box.
t/s parameters are used to design a box to suit a specific driver, not to select which driver to use.
