I just upgraded to a Nakamichi CD700 from Alpine 7949 and it really sounds better!!! But I'm a novice in ICE and I'm seeking some precious advice to make my present system sound better. I have : 1. JBL GTX47 active crossover 2. MBQuart QM218.03CX 2-way components up front driven by Alpine V12 50watts x 2ch 3. MBQuart QM215.03CX 2-way components rear fill driven by Alpine V12 30watts x 4ch 4. Rockford 500a2 driving 2 10"Kickers
I'm not using the MBQuart passive crossover for the front as it sounds better without it. So the front tweeters are driven by Alpine V12 30watts x 4ch.
Now I'm planning to replace the front with something better like 3-way MBQuart Q-series or 3-way Dynaudio but they do require bigger amps. Can a McIntosh MC427 do the job nicely?
This CD700 is giving 5V preouts, are these amps I mentioned and Alpines suitable?
I'm really going for it, not for any competition or SPL but for my own listening pleasure. I would like to add a center channel speaker too. Hope to hear from you guys. I can't get any good advice from where I'm living.

Dude. I've got the perfect solution for you! I too run (ran) a Nak 700 head. I ran mine into a Nak PA-506 6 channel amp. Best sounding amp I've heard to date. Anyway, I've got one for sale, if you want it. I'll make you a hella deal on it! As to actually making it sound better, get better front end components, and better subs.

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...
