I just upgraded to a Nakamichi CD700 from Alpine 7949 and it really sounds better!!!
But I'm a novice in ICE and I'm seeking some precious advice to make my present system sound better.
I have :
1. JBL GTX47 active crossover
2. MBQuart QM218.03CX 2-way components up front driven by Alpine V12 50watts x 2ch
3. MBQuart QM215.03CX 2-way components rear fill driven by Alpine V12 30watts x 4ch
4. Rockford 500a2 driving 2 10"Kickers

I'm not using the MBQuart passive crossover for the front as it sounds better without it. So the front tweeters are driven by Alpine V12 30watts x 4ch.

Now I'm planning to replace the front with something better like 3-way MBQuart Q-series or 3-way Dynaudio but they do require bigger amps. Can a McIntosh MC427 do the job nicely?

This CD700 is giving 5V preouts, are these amps I mentioned and Alpines suitable?

I'm really going for it, not for any competition or SPL but for my own listening pleasure. I would like to add a center channel speaker too.
Hope to hear from you guys. I can't get any good advice from where I'm living.

Dude. I've got the perfect solution for you! I too run (ran) a Nak 700 head. I ran mine into a Nak PA-506 6 channel amp. Best sounding amp I've heard to date. Anyway, I've got one for sale, if you want it. I'll make you a hella deal on it! As to actually making it sound better, get better front end components, and better subs.

STILL waiting to hear a GOOD pair of HLCD's!!

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...
