It's my understanding that the Transmission-Line enclosure is supposed to be the best sounding and most efficent enclosure avaliable. My question is, has anyone on here dealt with one, and is the above true?
I've found the wavelength of the subs Fs (10" L7), and using the 1/4 wavelength format, the total box/port volume is a little over 2.5 cu. ft.
If you guys know anything about these, or know if I'm doing this wrong/right, please let me know. I'm I guess pretty new with these advanced enclosures, so if you have any advice, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot, Justin

TL's have amazing sound when done right. However, they are not by any means the most effecient. In fact, they are the least effecient. They're even worse than sealed boxes. So if you're looking for something to slap in the trunk of your ride, you're looking in the wrong direction. Stick to sealed or ported.
If it's for a home system, go nuts.

While it may not be "The most efficient" design, a Transmission Line type cabinet will undoubtedly provide you with the most accurate bass this side of the Pacos. I'm using a T-Line with 2-8's, each in it's own chamber, 1-cabinet dual T-line chambers. I'm using 5/8 particle board. And 1/4 wave @ 80Hz.
There are a few web site dealing with T-line theory, it took me 3 tries to get this cabinet, and it's been in my car for the past 10 years, and still blows people away when I tell them it's just 2- 8's . The insulation I'm using is hand carted(fluffed) sheep's wool, it needs to be thicker near the woofer, and thinner towards the end of the T-line, leaving the last 1/4 cabinet empty. Avoid sharp corners (try to round them off) to prevent air tubulance. Get as much power as you can, and try to avoid loading your amplifier below 4 Ohms, this will assure you of tight and controlled bass. Good luck

Yes. The "loudspeaker design cookbook" has a good section on TL design. Although your best bet is to copy some else's design for the first time around. They are a little trickier to build and much harder to design than even the fanciest vented box.
