I'm sure it's a big project, but I'm wondering if anyone has had experience removing the emergency brake handle and making the control a simple button that controls an actuator that sets and releases the EB. I've read about it here and there and I'm wondering how to do it.

In my opinion, the easiest way is with a rotary actuator and a tension spring (the tension spring returns the cable to open, some of them have them, some don't), the rotary actuator spins one way with +v, the other with -v, so the switching is quite easy.

O.K. Thanks for the suggestion. Where can I get a rotary actuator? I have looked at Select Products but all I see there is linear.

you can also do it with an air driven cylinder....it can be driven 2 ways and have an on and an off release...very easy and inexpensive...is also very safe....
