Hey guys,
Need some help. Is the SPDIF output, like the one on the soundblaster audigy soundcard the same type of input that is on the Precision Power DAC-348? The coaxial input? I believe they are one in the same thing and all I would need is a coaxial digital cable to connect the two but I thought maybe someone here could confirm that. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jesse

Coaxial and SPDIf are two different types of connection, but they do the same thing, transmit digital audio

so would say an SPDIF output from a creative audigy soundcard connect up with the Precision Power DAC-348 without a problem?

SPDIF I believe is the protocol used to send data over copper.

call PPI and ask them.

Yah, spdif is simply the protocol used. The two common media's I have seen are coax which uses an rca adapter at each end, and a fiber cable that uses toslink adapters at each end.

You guys are correct. You should be engineers for PPI. They said "Try it" it will probably work. SPDIF is indeed the protocol and toslink and digital coax are the connecting types. Thanks guys.

Also I should note that I'm not going to use the PPI DAC now. I just got a Sony XES-P1 and I am going to use toslink outputs from the soundcard into the XES-P1.
I ended up finding a "biscuit" PC motherboard with basically everything onboard except sound. Has an LCD controller for the Sharp 10.4" LCD and everything. Also found a 12 volt AT power supply to run it. Should be pretty sweet once I'm all done. The SBC (Single Board Computer) is small enough that it is going to go on my console of my ranger where the drink holders used to be. The LCD will go above the computer and have touchscreen. Sorry for rambling on, I'm very excited about this project. I'll definitely post some pics once I get finished with the MP3/DVD/GPS/Multimedia system.
