Are you looking for a LED, LCD or VF display? DD is the only one I know of using VF and I haven't seen too many bare VF displays to build your own with. For LCD and LEDs, digital voltmeters can be had for around 10 bucks depending on size and color. Most require 12V only and read up to 2V with three or four digits, but can easily read 20V, temperature, current, any thing that can be converted to voltage(which is damn near anything). If the search was available I could list you a couple places that have the LED voltmeters, but it is not. I will try to find some places in the next day or so.
