If you have somebody else do it for you like a shop, then I think it'll be pretty expensive. It would be fairly easy but, time consuming to do it yourself with about 4 smallish DC motors, some gears, and relays. Also, you might want to look into DC servos made for RC cars and planes.

You could get some quality RC motors for around $60 each. I have one from Trinity and it has alot of torque. I think 4 of them with the right pulleys and slides would slide a 60 lb amp rack no problem. You could probably get 2 motors to move an amp rack around 50-60 lbs.

You could use an RC motor, they are probably overkill though. Most are designed for about 20-30krpms at 7.2-8.4V
with 12V you are gonna be straining them + you'd need a really small gear, otherwise your amp rack would launch through the back of your car.
Digikey has a very limited supply of DC motors ranging from 1rpm - 30 rpms. This would be more ideal, but they are pretty expensive at almost 50 dollars.
I would look around hobby shops and stuff like that. Then just get a small gear with low pitch to put on the motor and find a strip with an edge of the same pitch about 12" long. You should be able to use a DPDT relay to make the motors go forwards and backwards.
